Wrong Advice

Immigration attorneys are not physicians. That is, they are but in the wrong way. If a second opinion means shopping around for a “closer” who sells the greatest promise for the cheapest price, make no mistake: you will spend the next few months justifying a purchase made on impulse.

Timing is everything. Advisories that warn against “rushing” clients into taking any action are wrong. Three days before the hearing, we can either throw meet against the grinder (the most common option) or actually prepare to build a stronger case for the client.

If a master hearing is “just a master” in which we ask for “more time,” we have wasted everyone’s time. Prudent counsel prioritizes long-term strategy over short-term gain. And chances are, you will need to do most of the heavy lifting to build a case. So start taking it seriously or no one else will.
